NEWSLETTER 15/2017

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents,

JUNIOR G
As you would have recently heard Sue has chosen to take some Long Service Leave for Term 4. I’m sure you will join with me in wishing her a well-deserved break. We are very pleased that Mrs. Jo Bon and Mrs. Gillian O’Connor are able to take the class and continue the educational journey for the remainder of the year.

VISION MEETING
As per my letter last week please indicate via the attached link if you would like to attend one of the Vision Information Sessions during October. This will be an opportunity for you to hear about the strategic direction the school is on and how we can all work together to provide a wonderful educational journey for your children.

NEW COMPUTERS IN THE SENIOR SCHOOL THANKS TO YOUR GENEROSITY
Recently we have purchased 30 new Lenovo Netbooks for the senior school. These will be set up over the holidays in a mobile charging trolley ready to be used at the start of Term 4. A large portion of the funds raised recently from the numerous PFA events have been committed to this purchase so not only do the staff thank you for your generosity but more importantly so do the students who will benefit from our new laptops ……… THANK YOU!!

CLUBS
Don’t forget to check out the rest of this newsletter for application forms for Chess Club and the Limelight Performance Club. The trial days last week were a great success and if the participation was any guide we will be running a very successful clubs program during Term 4. Mr. Hardie and Miss McDonald are also setting up a lunchtime Coding Club, Mrs McCallum will be running a Mandala Drawing Club and Mrs Lough will be running a Junior and Senior Choir! Details will be available early next term.

FOOTY DAY
Thank you to everyone for an amazing Footy Day this week. The colour and excitement was great to see and I loved the enthusiasm and team spirit displayed by all students. Thank you to PFA for the organisation of the lunch, Mr. Riley and Mr. Hardie for the parade and, most importantly, all of our Grade 5/6 students who ran the activities for all students to enjoy. As always they represented Mentone Park PS perfectly.

Photos of Footy Day can be found on our School Facebook page and there are also some below.

I hope everyone has a wonderful break. It is a chance to sleep in a little without the school lunch rush and enjoy some quality time with the kids. With the weather starting to warm up a walk or a play in the park becomes a more viable options than sitting by the heater trying to stay warm.

Lastly, if your team is playing this weekend, and I know after Footy Day we have a few Cats and Tigers supporters, ….. Good luck.

Best Wishes

And... on behalf of Mr Hardie, Mr Roberts, Signora Beer and Mrs Unwin - GO the mighty TIGERS!!!
